Information Technology has become central to almost all aspects of today’s office environment. Businesses and Organizations require their staff to be acquainted with at least the basic knowledge of ICT tools and applications, and how to apply this knowledge in improving day-to-day office operations.
This course seeks to introduce the student to information technology and how it aids business decision making, Identify the components of a typical microcomputer system, Identify and use the most widely used general micro-computer office applications, the differences between application software and system software and understand the role of the operating system software. Demonstrate knowledge of computer hardware and software and related ethical issues related to its use in a business environment. Be familiar with computer networks and know the basic components of the communications systems including e-mails, user interfaces, communication, and the internet. Effectively use application software which includes; word processing, spreadsheet, database management, and presentation software.
